Honey is the only food that truly lasts forever. The nectar from flowers mixes with enzymes inside the bees that extract it, which changes the nectar’s composition and breaks it down into simple sugars that are deposited into honeycombs.
The processing and sealing of honey also adds to its indefinite shelf life. Despite being low in moisture, honey’s sugars are hygroscopic, which means that they take in moisture from the air. When the heated and strained honey is sealed properly, moisture cannot be absorbed, and the honey stays the same forever.
Pure vanilla extracts have a shelf life recommendation of approx 3 years. Though, it will continue to mellow and develop flavor as they age just like a fine wine or liquor would. If, over time, the extract starts to look cloudy or you see sediment at the bottom of the bottle, this is because the flavor matter has dropped out of suspension. This is normal, and you just need to shake the bottle to put the flavoring material back into suspension.
Legumes are available in many stores very easily. Lentils, black beans, garbanzos, and peas are just a few forms that can keep forever if sealed properly and stored in a cool dry place. All legumes are packed with proteins, fiber, and carbs for energy. Dried beans can harden slightly as they age but will soften right back up during soaking or cooking.

Powdered milk is a first thing you would think when supplies of fresh milk isn’t available. The dried stuff many not be very appealing, but it pretty much lasts forever and is useful for cooking and baking as well.

Green non-roasted coffee beans can also last indefinitely if stored properly, but have the obvious need to roast, grind, and brew.
Unopened syrup stores easily, and does not need refrigeration just keep it in a dry place at a room temperature or lower. However, prolonged storage may cause the color of the maple syrup to darken and the flavor may also deteriorate slightly. It is recommended that if you are going to store syrup, for over two years, to keep it in a freezer.
Sea salt, table salt, and iodized salt can be kept forever. Seasoned salts, however, often contain ingredients that can spoil in a year or so. While in time, salt can absorb moisture and become clumpy, it never actually spoils and can just be broken up and used as normal.
The storage method you use to store your sugar determines whether you can keep it forever or not. Powdered and granulated sugar are best kept in airtight containers to keep the moisture at bay. Retailers are required to stamp bags with dates, but manufacturers say that even hardened brown sugar is still edible once it has been softened.
